Terri Kness graduated from Fairfield High School and went on to earn her degree in communication studies at the University of Iowa, obtaining her real estate license in 2005. Throughout college and following, Terri started her career in banking at Commercial Federal Bank. In her tenure at Commercial Federal, which was then bought out by Bank of the West, she was a part time teller, Customer Service Supervisor, Personal Banker, and finally Branch Manager of two branches in Cedar Rapids.
In 2007, Terri and her husband moved from Cedar Rapids to Fairfield and Terri continued her career at Barker Company in inside sales. In 2010, Terri was elected as the Jefferson County Treasurer where she served on multiple committees within the Treasurers association and was President of the Iowa County Treasurers Association. In 2018, Terri moved back into the private sector focusing on Real Estate and working for a software company which runs the Iowa Treasurer’s website. Since then, Terri has moved into a Business Analyst Role in a software company.
Terri has served on the Lord’s Cupboard, Little Superheroes, Fairfield Golf and Country Club, Fairfield Parks and Recreation, Fairfield Education Foundation, Cambridge Little Achievers Center board of directors as well as volunteering for many local charities and youth sports organizations.
Terri and her husband Aaron have two children, Rowan and Ryder, and enjoy watching them play sports and traveling together.
